I make the important addition of "on or AROUND" after doing some research on the school and the school district that governs it (SD36 - Surrey Schools), on which I found this information here:
"The Surrey School District is committed to providing safe and caring environments in which all learners can achieve academic excellence, personal growth and responsible citizenship."
So, in my humble opinion, littering and polluting are NOT parts of the mandate of "responsible citizenship" or providing a "caring envirnoment".
If I had to give the school a grade, I would say FAIL... or as my son would say... EPIC FAIL.
This is doubly true when the garbage CLEARLY spills over into their NEIGHBORS yards and property. Bad enough to have litter on school property, even worse when it spills over on personal, private or public property.
Frankly, what I saw shocked me enough to want to start documenting our schools.
I've contacted the acting principal of Semiahmoo Secondary, Pam De Luca
and
The Manager of Safe Schools for SD36-Surrey Schools, Theresa Campbell
with the information recorded here.
I have NOT contacted the District Superintendent Mike Mckay, or
Media Relations Manager, Doug Strachan, or
The local newspapers.
I want to give the school a chance to respond and act responsibly first. All I am asking is what their LONG-TERM plan is to help with this growing problem of litter and trash.
My Route today:

Here is a VERY small sampling of the over 300 pictures and videos of garbage I took at and around Semiahmoo school in Surrey, and that discovery included several condoms. I would upload more pictures, but blogger won't let me! If I counted cigarette butts, literally THOUSANDS of pieces of trash on or around school property! This is my first video, and already I have learned a lot. So apologies for the quality on this one!
Plus MANY, MANY more!
